Oddball: Week 2 Recap

Kirk gets cleaned out and Matt has an extremely average performance. Wow this has really been exciting so far!
where's my lighter?

Oddball is our weekly NFL gambling competition where we each get $100 every week and try to outdo each other. The loser has to eat a well-done Applebee's steak.

Recap: Matt's Picks

$100 wagered $4.43 lost $95.57 in the bank

I watched like 18 hours of football since Thursday, went 2-2-1, and lost $4.43. What a rush! Addition by subtraction this week as Kirk blew half of his stack on some weird parlays and his namesake Kirk Cousin's walked through the back door and took the other half. So while this little contest didn't get the heart pounding too much this week, taking the Giants in my survivor pool certainly did.

Bears +2.5

Straight up ATS (-105)

This team is straight-up terrible. I wanted to see another week of Fields, but my god. This game was unwatchable and one of those that you know in the first 10 minutes your bet is done. Lesson learned.

❌ Lost $20

Texans +1.0

Straight up ATS (-110)

It's really cool when you're down 14-0 like five minutes into the game. Richardson looked great to start this one, then got concussed, and then my rooting interests really got conflicted because I love Minshew. All that said, I still think this Texans team is better than public perception. Something to keep an eye on going forward.

❌ Lost $20

Falcons +1.5

Straight up ATS (-115)

Ridder is probably the third-worst quarterback I watched this week, but this Falcons team is feisty. I love that they annoy fantasy owners everywhere by not throwing to Pitts or London. I'm going to keep betting them and hope that Ridder can improve over time.

✅ Won $17.39

Bills -9.5

Straight up ATS (-110)

This was easy. I loved the Bills all week. Everyone was panicking about them. And there might be some truth to their worries. There are going to be spots to fade the Bills in the near future, but hosting the Raiders coming east off of a tough divisional win was not that spot. Nice win.

✅ Won $18.18

Panthers +3.0

Straight up ATS (-102)

I watched this whole game and it was so boring that I actually got excited for the back door push. That result seems about right given how lackluster the performances were on both sides. Bryce Young does not look good and has no one to throw to. But you know who else looks pretty bad? Derek Carr. Are we sure the Saints are good?

Same Game Parlay (+2048)

Jalen Hurts Over 1.5 Passing TD's - Jalen Hurts Under 248.5 Passing Yards - Justin Jefferson Under 94.5 Yards - Dallas Goedert Over 48.5 Yards - Philly Moneyline

Luckily Justin Jefferson put me out of my misery in the third quarter. I would have had to yell even louder than I already was for a Goedert TD for 37 yards. My wife still hasn't forgiven me for my behavior during the Eagles Super Bowl loss and now this. THANK YEW BIRDS.
