Oddball: Week 10 NFL Bets

Kirk and Matt get $100 each per week and go head-to-head to see who can light the most money on fire betting the NFL this season.
where's my lighter?

Welcome back to Oddball! Our weekly NFL gambling competition. The rules are simple:

  • We each get $100 to make NFL bets every week.

  • We must bet the entire $100.

  • We'll post our picks every Thursday and recap how we did every Tuesday.

  • We can only bet on stuff that will be resolved during the week (no futures).

  • Loser must eat an entire well-done steak at Applebee's.

Any profit you make in a given week can be banked and used later. Any portion of the $100 that you don't lose, cannot be used later but does count towards your overall total for the season.

Now that the rules preamble is over, let's get to the picks and see if Kirk will ever bank a winning week again! editors note: (we didn't need to change this from last week)

Matt's Picks

$128.00 available to bet this week +$28.00 last week +$243.57 for the season

I'll keep my intro brief this week. Just three quick notes:

  • Kirk has asked me to stop making fun of him in front of his friends.

  • Be sure to check out Uncle Jack's quarterback rankings.

  • Can you tell I'm feeling confident whipping out the under bets?

Jaguars (+3.5)

Bought 0.5 points (-125)

The 49ers headed into their bye week losers of three-straight games, whereas the Jaguars quietly posted a five-game win streak heading into theirs. Nobody is really giving Trevor Lawrence any attention this year. Maybe because he was hanging out in London wrestling the British Bulldog for two weeks in the middle of the season. In any event, I'll take the home dog in this spot and buy the hook to avoid a potential push.

💰$37.50 to win $30.00

Bengals (-6.5)

Straight up ATS (-110)

I'm going to ride the hot team here, despite my dislike for taking big favorites. While Joe Burrow and his connection with Ja'marr Chase has certainly been impressive, I think the bigger strength of the Bengals has been their defense. It just seems like it's really hard to play against this team, especially for a rookie (C.J. Stroud) on the road after getting smoke blown up his ass all week. This matchup pits two "Contenders" from Uncle Jack's QB Ratings up against each other, but Cincy is the only one of these teams that has a chance to make some noise in January and February.

💰$33.00 to win $30.00

Lions (-2.5)

Bought 0.5 points (-132)

I've faded the Lions at a few points this season, but I'm starting to come around. Other than their stinker against Baltimore, they've been pretty impressive lately. Chalky road favorites are not really my style. But they have a good coach coming off a bye facing a shaky coach and a team with no home field advantage to speak off. Plus, the Chargers leaky secondary should give Jared "Goof" lots of opportunities to chuck it deep. Buying the hook again to avoid a dumb push.

💰$26.40 to win $20.00

First Half Under 19.5

Packers at Steelers (-120)

Two awful offenses that take the entire game to get going. Throwing a few bucks on this snooze fest.

💰$18.00 to win $15.00

Two-Leg Parlay (+265)

49ers at Jaguars under 45.5 Broncos at Bills under 46.5

According to Action Network, in games where both teams have had 8 days of rest or more, the under is 99-47-1. It's pretty rare that two games qualify for that condition in the same week, but the 49ers (bye), Jags (bye), Broncos (bye), and Bills (8 days rest) so let's parlay them together and take a lil' shot.

💰$13.10 to win $34.72

Kirk's Picks

$100.00 available to bet this week -$100.00 last week -$543.51 for the season

I've reached the bargaining phase of this competition. Please God let me stem the bleeding. I talked so much shit on Matt before the season started that I think, I think, that may be why on a daily basis he is dunking on me across all platforms.

He recently sent this to my Mom and said, "Tell your 'son' he's a piece of shit".

Raiders Moneyline -106

The Raiders got a breath of fresh air in their lungs when they fired Josh McDaniels. Additionally rookie QB Aidan O'Connell looked great against one of New Jersey's shitty teams, why not the other this week? Watching the Jets makes me sad. But watching them with money against them makes me happy. Zach Wilson will be seeing ghosts and Maxx Crosby is going to make him uncomfortable.

💰 $75.00 to win $70.75

Multigame Parlay Straight Up ATS +583

New England Patriots +1.5, San Francisco 49ers -3.0, Minnesota Vikings +3.0

Need to keep some action alive on parlays to attempt to chip away at Matt's seemingly insurmountable lead. Here's the expert analysis you came here for:

  1. I've lost enough money on the Colts this year I'm actively rooting against them. I think the Pats retain some homefield advantage even with this game being played in Germany. I've been to Massachusetts and I'm pretty sure it's exactly like Munich.

  2. The Jag's have been getting smoke blown up their ass all week and although I love Doug Pederson, him and Trevor have been doing way too many interview for their own good. The Football Gods will not be pleased. I'll take the 49ers getting slept on and forgotten.

  3. Now entirely converse to that thinking, I like the Vikings coming off a big win. Josh Dobbs with no prep time pulled off an epic win away against the Atlanta Mustaches. I like taking the points at home.

💰 $25.00 to win $145.83

Bonus Pick

Congrats for making it all the way to the end! Kirk and I have been tailing this Twitter account that is using AI to identify profitable same game parlays. The last five TNF games have hit, as did last week's +676 variation that we gave out on this very site!

Kirk and I are teaming up again . We're gonna take this parlay tonight and add one more leg to it. We'll take the over 38.5 in the game as well to boost things up to +411. Good luck to all if you tail us!

Note: This isn't counting towards our weekly total. Just a camaraderie bet to show that we're still friends even after I whoop his ass every week.

C. Kmet over 3.5 receptions
H. Hurst over 16.5 receiving yards Over 38.5 total points

💰 $100.00 to win $411.65
